Bürgel comprehensive school

Short description

Implenia completed extension work on the school in Bürgel, in the Saale-Holzland district of Thuringia. The two new buildings are connected to the existing site by a connecting structure.

The project

In 2018, the construction of the new school buildings was the largest construction project to take place in the district of Saale-Holzland. Two school buildings were added  to Bürgel school and connected to the old school building via a connecting structure. After a call for bids that was put out across Europe, the Implenia Buildings branch in Jena won the contract.

Services in detail

  • A three-storey building with a gabled roof occupies the north-westerly end of the site, its gable facing the forecourt. It allows the historical main building of the school to take centre stage, ensuring that the focus remains on the latter. A second building is positioned in the southern section of the site.
  • The Jena branch office was tasked with completing all the necessary planning and construction work, as well as providing the interim financing for the construction project, on the basis of a functional description of construction services and a spatial planning programme.
  • With a usable area of some 2,200 m², the newly constructed buildings were handed over to the district of Saale-Holzland in late 2018.

Challenges

The district of Saale-Holzland awarded the contract for the building work as a complete package (PPP). Implenia provided all the planning services, as well as interim construction financing and final financing, plus turnkey execution.
