The "Hospital of the Future" conference series is designed for managers and decision-makers in the hospital sector. The aim is to bring together all those involved in hospital planning, construction and organization to discuss the future of the hospital in a qualified manner. The main target groups are planners, architects, operators and, of course, hospital managers (administrative management, executive management, medical management, technical management, nursing management).
Research
NEST research and innovation platform at Empa
Implenia has been working with Empa, Eawag and other partners on the planning and construction of a new NEST unit called "Beyond Zero" since the beginning of 2024. In this visionary unit, the majority of CO2-reduced and CO2-negative building materials will be used and researched over the entire life cycle of buildings and infrastructure. For example, thermal insulation materials and cement that bind carbon dioxide in the air or clay-based bricks that do not need to be fired.

The VersuchsStollen Hagerbach is a fascinating underground world and offers a real test environment for innovations for underground mining. This makes it an important platform for the further development of the industry. Drawing on the expertise of industry leaders, the VSH's mission is to work with industry partners to improve tunnelling and mining technology, which Implenia supports as a shareholder and member of the Board of Directors.

Swissloop Tunneling
Swissloop Tunneling is a student association at ETH Zurich and researches new solutions for the tunnelling industry. Last year, the team built their first tunnel boring machine and named it "Groundhog Alpha" after the local tunnel-building marmot.

CAS Reconstruction Ukraine - Helping People to Help Themselves
The war in Ukraine has had fatal consequences for the population. Important infrastructure, private and public buildings, as well as supply networks have been destroyed. Thus, the Ukrainian population lacks the basis for a safe and peaceful life. CAS Reconstruction Ukraine aims to make a concrete and sustainable contribution to reconstruction in Ukraine. It offers help for self-help and enables people from Ukraine with a connection to the construction industry to actively and farsightedly shape the reconstruction of their homeland. The Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH is responsible for this innovative course of study in collaboration with the Swiss government and the construction industry.
Implenia is also involved and is part of the training in the areas of area, settlement, site and urban development / design of buildings in timber and hybrid construction / possibilities of digital construction according to the "Building Information Modeling (BIM)" method.

In the cultural field, Implenia cooperates with the "International Circus Festival YOUNG STAGE Basel", which is committed to promoting young artists. The mission of the organization is to offer a platform and a job exchange to very talented young artists from all over the world, to promote contemporary circus in general, to enable networking and to inspire the next generation (children and young people). The "International Circus Festival YOUNG STAGE Basel" is the largest of its kind in Switzerland and is one of the most important in the industry worldwide.

SMILING GECKO
Implenia has a long-standing partnership with the "Smiling Gecko" association. "Smiling Gecko" is an aid project that uses economically and ecologically sustainable cluster projects to promote a holistic approach to continuously improving the living conditions of the rural Cambodian population. Since August 2017, Implenia has been supporting "Smiling Gecko" in Cambodia with expert knowledge. Every 3 months, Implenia employees from different areas support local residents with their expertise and lend a hand with construction and infrastructure projects.
