Biel, Umgestaltung Jakob-Stämpfli Strasse
Short description
The rehabilitation of Jakob-Stämpfli-Strasse includes the construction of new sidewalks on both sides, the renewal of the entire road drainage system as well as the foundation and edge trims over a total length of 510m.
The project
The execution was carried out in stages. The entire road body was demolished/removed down to the subgrade and renewed. In addition, various catenary poles were replaced for a new catenary concept and four bus plates of the public transport company were demolished and rebuilt. We have extended the electricity network and the public lighting. We also constructed 80 tree planting quarters and covered them with cast grates. Finally, in the entire project perimeter, the base course 6 cm AC T 16 and surface course 4 cm AC 8 were laid on the sidewalk surface and the base course 14 cm AC T 22 and surface course 4 cm AC MR 8 were laid on the road surface.
All works were carried out under heavy inner-city traffic. Two lanes of traffic, bus service and access to two separate large construction sites had to be guaranteed at all times. All material handling, deliveries and removals, and installation changes had to be carried out outside the traffic area.
