Ground-breaking ceremony for new town hall in Bülach

Implenia celebrates ground-breaking with town authorities | Total contractor mandate for five-storey administrative building

Dietlikon, 21 May 2019 – Implenia, together with representatives of the town of Bülach, architects Baumschlager Eberle and other guests held a ground-breaking ceremony for the new town hall on Monday. The ceremony marked the start of construction work on the new administrative building at the Sechtbach site.

Working as total contractor, Implenia is building a five-storey town hall for the town of Bülach in accordance with plans drawn up by architectural firm Baumschlager Eberle. The new building’s location has outstanding public transport connections and is only a few minutes’ walk from the historic town centre. It will provide a central home for various civic institutions, with a central square between the swimming pool, civic hall and town hall. The new building will meet the Minergie-P standard. The plan is to complete the basic build by the end of January 2020 and the building envelope by the end of July 2020. The interior fit-out will then follow. Handover to the client is scheduled for February 2021. After a short operational set-up phase, the civic authorities will move into the new town hall in early spring 2021.

“With this ground-breaking ceremony, we’re delighted to start building the new town hall; we’re right on track,” said Andrea Schmidhauser, Project Manager at Implenia. “This is a milestone in Bülach’s history,” said Hanspeter Lienhart, Councillor of Bülach, at the ceremony. “Our city is getting a new, highly functional building in a central location, which gives Bülach’s citizens a single point of contact for multiple civic services and which will allow us to optimise internal administrative processes. We are enjoying a professional and very smooth working relationship with the total contractor and the planning team.”
