Alversundbrua

Short description

Implenia is building the Alversund Bridge as part of county road 565 in the municipality of Alver in Vestland.

The project

The new bridge will replace the current one-way bridge from 1958 and enable safer and more efficient movement for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. The project makes an important contribution to modernizing the infrastructure in the region.

Contract and project scope

Implenia was commissioned by Vestland County Council to build the new Alversund Bridge over the Alverstraumen. The project comprises a 209-metre-long arch bridge with two lanes and a pedestrian and cycle path. The new bridge will be made of steel and concrete and will replace the current bridge, which is regulated by traffic lights and has limited capacity and load-bearing capacity.

Technical and traffic requirements

The project places high demands on technical implementation, traffic management and consideration for the surrounding area. When the new bridge is completed, it will provide greater traffic safety, increased capacity and a more robust traffic solution for both local and commercial traffic in Nordhordland.

Climate, environment and biodiversity

The project places great emphasis on climate and biodiversity. Alverstraumen is a marine area with significant natural values and the project will be implemented with measures to limit negative impacts.

Experience and collaboration

Implenia has many years of experience with complex bridge and concrete projects in Norway. The Alversund Bridge builds on this expertise with a focus on quality, feasibility and sustainable solutions. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Norconsult, Norbridge and Romarheim.
