Implenia's Torre Intesa Sanpaolo project in Turin named “Building of the Year 2016”

Readers of the world's most visited architecture website select the 166-meter tower as the best project in the “Offices” category.

Dietlikon, 4 March 2016 – At 166 meters and with 38 floors, Torre Intesa Sanpaolo, designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, is one of the tallest buildings in Italy. It serves as the new head office of the bank Intesa Sanpaolo, providing space for more than 2000 employees right in the heart of Turin. The readers of “Archdaily”, the world's most popular architecture website, have now selected the project as “Building of the Year 2016” in the offices category. The prize is awarded to construction projects that set new architectural standards. Every year the website's readers assess a list of hundreds of projects and choose the best ones in 14 categories. Implenia built the “Torre” in partnership with Italian general contractor Rizzani De Eccher. The top floors of the building, which are accessible to the public, include a bioclimatic, naturally ventilated greenhouse as well as a garden restaurant, an exhibition hall and a terrace with magnificent views across the whole of Turin. The building, which opened in 2014 after five years of construction, also has impressive sustainability credentials. There are solar panels across the whole of the south façade, which provide much of the building's energy needs. Ground water is used to cool the building in the summer. The project is an outstanding example of Implenia Group's capabilities in planning and executing complex, sustainable buildings.
