Implenia inaugurates new production facility for wood construction

Investment in modern infrastructure for a sustainable building material | Practical implementation of digitalisation strategy in wood construction

Dietlikon, 3 April 2017 – Implenia officially opened its new production hall for wood construction in Rümlang on Saturday. Its investment in a new hall housing state-of-the-art infrastructure is Implenia’s response to the increasing demand for wood as a building material. The group is also implementing its digitalisation strategy in the new facility in order to make planning and production processes much more streamlined. The 3,300 m2 hall is divided into two logistics and three production areas. This means that the team of around 20 production workers can either work simultaneously on three different projects or, in complex cases, focus as a team on the different elements of a single project.

Switzerland’s biggest timber-built development, “sue&til”, is currently being constructed in Winterthur, and the new wood construction hall is producing more than 250,000 wooden parts for it. Thanks to end-to-end digitalisation of the processes involved, Implenia can coordinate everything smoothly: from planning, to preproduction of the elements, to assembly and installation on site. In summary, the new production hall allows Implenia and its customers to reap all the benefits of modern wooden construction, combined with the practical advantages of the Group’s digitalisation strategy. Implenia has also decided that it will only use certified wood on the projects it develops itself in future, thus underlining its commitment to sustainable development within the construction industry.
