Implenia facilitates and builds an international manufacturing headquarters in Winterthur

International machine tool manufacturer to set up its new European head office in Neuhegi | Helping to strengthen Winterthur as an manufacturing centre and create new jobs

Dietlikon, 3 June 2013 – DMG Mori Seiki Europe AG and Mori Seiki Co. Ltd. Europe are moving to Winterthur. The joint venture between Gildemeister Aktiengesellschaft of Germany and Mori Seiki Co. Ltd. of Japan is buying a plot of approximately 20,000 square meters from Implenia in the Neuhegi part of the city. This new district is currently being regenerated with a mixture of modern industrial, residential and service developments. The international machine tool manufacturers are building their new European head office here on the Sulzer-Allee. Scheduled for completion in 2014 it will include sales, service and development departments as well as a technology centre. This will help strengthen Winterthur as a manufacturing centre and create around 200 new jobs. The people of Winterthur will in future also be able to come to the site to use a solar-powered charging station for electric cars, provided free of charge. As well as the project development work, Implenia is responsible for the basic construction of the building. Working together with the Winterthur Business Development Association, the City of Winterthur, the Economic Department of Canton Zurich and the Swiss Business Hub of Osec in Tokyo, Implenia has done a great deal in recent months to help attract the companies to Winterthur. “By selling the land, Implenia cleared the way for us to build up and develop our European business from this exciting, ideal location in Winterthur,” says Silvio Lehmann, CEO of DMG Mori Seiki Europe AG.
