Implenia builds car park Kunstmuseum in Basel

“One Company” project with services provided from a single source | Contract volume more than CHF 40 million

Dietlikon, 19 April 2018 –Acting as total contractor, Implenia is building a car park by the art museum Basel under St. Alban-Graben. The underground parking facility will provide parking spaces close to the city’s most important cultural institutions and its popular shopping street, Freie Strasse. The project has been commissioned by Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund LogisticsPlus. The volume of the contract amounts to more than CHF 40 million.

Implenia will be using its own building construction, master builder, foundation engineering and civil engineering services to undertake this technically demanding project. The Group will therefore be providing virtually all the services required to complete this “One Company” project from a single source. The car park, which is being built underneath the busy street of St. Alban-Graben, will be constructed as a secant pile wall using the cut-and-cover method. The tram service between St. Alban-Graben and the Wettsteinbrücke will continue operating throughout the construction period. However, it will run on a single track until the ceiling of the car park is completed. The new facility will offer a total of 350 parking spaces for passenger vehicles. Work on this city-centre project will begin in December 2018 and will carry on until summer 2021.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate our technical expertise in a wide range of areas in this challenging urban project,” said Dr Jens Vollmar, Business Unit Head of Implenia Buildings. “With our 'One Company’ approach, we offer our customers the option of obtaining all the services they need from a single source.”
