Implenia and investor Allianz Suisse lay the foundation stone for the “sue&til” residential and commercial development in Winterthur Neuhegi

Construction at Switzerland's largest timber-built residential project has officially started

Dietlikon, 6 April 2016 – Implenia, together with investor and client Allianz Suisse, representatives of the city of Winterthur and numerous other partners and guests, today celebrated the laying of the foundation stone at the “sue&til” residential and commercial development in Oberwinterthur. This marked the official start of construction work on the 17,800m2 former Sulzer site in the Winterthur district of Neuhegi. Implenia is carrying out the project in close cooperation with the city of Winterthur based on the competition-winning design produced by the team of weberbrunner architekten and Soppelsa Architekten. The redevelopment, which includes apartments and public-use ground-floor units, is Switzerland’s largest ever timber-built residential project. “Implenia is putting its sustainability strategy firmly into practice with ‘sue&til’, which is being built to SIA Energy Efficiency Path 2040 standards. And with our One Company approach we are bringing the combined expertise of our group to bear,” said Implenia’s CEO Anton Affentranger. Implenia has been able to secure Allianz Suisse as an investor in the project. It acquired 260 apartments last year. Implenia is now carrying out the project as total contractor on behalf of Allianz Suisse (media release). During the ceremony Severin Moser, CEO of Allianz Suisse, said: “This is the biggest construction project we have ever carried out as an investor. We are happy that it is finally underway and that the building will set standards for sustainability.” The first residents should be moving into their new homes in spring 2018.
