Group Executive Board back to full strength

René Kotacka appointed definitively as Head of the Business Unit Tunnelling & Civil Engineering and Member of Implenia's Group Executive Board

Dietlikon, 16 December 2014 – René Kotacka, until now Interim Head of the Business Unit Tunnelling & Civil Engineering, is now taking up the role on a permanent basis. At the same time, Implenia's Board of Directors has appointed him to the Group Executive Board. This means that the Group's most senior operational body is now back to full strength. René Kotacka, who studied construction engineering, assumed the role on an interim basis in August 2014 after former Head Arturo Henniger died following a short illness. Kotacka has many years' management experience and an excellent network of contacts within the construction industry. Before taking over responsibility for the Business Unit he was the Head of Acquisitions at Implenia Tunnelling and a member of the Business Unit Management Committee at Tunnelling & Civil Engineering. His previous roles included Head of International Production and Refurbishment. CEO Anton Affentranger says: "We are pleased to have appointed a long-serving manager from within the Group to this strategic management position." Graduated as a construction engineer from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in 1988. In the same year he began his career at Implenia's predecessor firm Zschokke (AG Heinr. Hatt-Haller), immediately becoming a construction manager and then a site manager for various tunnelling projects. Around the start of the new millennium René Kotacka became project manager and head of technical management for the "Aeschertunnel", part of Zurich's western bypass. He was then responsible for various subsurface new build and refurbishment projects as project manager and member of the construction committee. These included: the "Flüelen Bypass Tunnel" in Uri, the "New Tierfehd Limmern Storage Pump" in Glarus, the "Roppen Tunnel" in Imst, Austria, the "Tunnels de Croisettes et de la Combe/Creux" in Neuchâtel, and the "Tunnel de la Larzette" rail tunnel refurbishment in Valais. In 2006 Kotacka was appointed Head of International Production and Refurbishment at Implenia. In 2011 he then took on responsibility for acquisitions at the Tunnelling unit and became a member of the Implenia Tunnelling & Civil Engineering Management Committee. In August 2014 René Kotacka took over as interim Head of Tunnelling & Civil Engineering.
