Implenia wins contract to build five buildings in “Central Malley”

SBB Immobilien asks Implenia to build five buildings as total contractor | New residential and business district west of Lausanne | Contract worth around CHF 200 million

Glattpark (Opfikon), 22 November 2021 – The "Central Malley" project is the first stage of a redevelopment programme for the Malley brownfield site in the municipalities of Prilly and Renens to the west of Lausanne. The plan is to create a sustainable neighbourhood surrounded by greenery, with homes, offices and commercial units. The project has been designed to address environmental challenges and is an integral part of the urban development plan for the Lausanne conurbation. It includes a series of ambitious architectural plans with an emphasis on new forms of living.

Implenia has won the contract to build five buildings, including two high-rises with 19 and 24 storeys respectively. The buildings will offer total floorspace of 42,200 m2, of which 23,700 m2 will be for office space, 14,700 m2 for around 200 apartments, and 3,800 m2 for commercial units. All should be certified under the Minergie P-Eco environmental standard. The project was the subject of two separate architectural competitions in 2018, which were won by Aeby Perneger & Associés SA and Pont 12 Architectes SA. Implenia will be carrying out this demanding large-scale project, worth around CHF 200 million, as total contractor on behalf of SBB Immobilien.

Jens Vollmar, Head Division Buildings at Implenia, is very pleased about the new contract: “We’re bringing a wide range of planning and execution capabilities to the project. With our expertise and our motivated team, we look forward to realising the project successfully in partnership with SBB Immobilien. By contributing to the development of this innovative new neighbourhood we’re helping to shape some exciting new ways of living and working.”
