VD6 Multipurpose Hall

Short description

The "Forestay" multipurpose hall in Puidoux is part of the redevelopment of the Verney area, which includes a new high school, a district heating plant, and a large parking lot. The two-story building, which is suitable for both local and regional events as well as sports activities, was named after the nearby Forestay River—one of its waterfalls was featured in a film starring a movie star. The waterfall was immortalized by the artist Marcel Duchamp.

Services in detail

In addition to the permanent bleachers, there are retractable bleachers that can accommodate a total of 1,200 spectators. A mobile stage is available for concerts. The arena is equipped with sixteen basketball hoops, which allow for a variety of configurations, as well as twelve pairs of rims.
The floor consists of a combined elastic surface that offers great versatility—90% of its use is for sports. Under heavy loads, the surface comes into contact with a wooden subfloor, which is then compressed.

Challenges

The construction site had to take into account the constraints posed by surrounding construction work—access to the landfill and district heating. An eighteen-month construction period? A challenge that was perfectly mastered by the general contractor Implenia, even though there was an excess of ammonium that had to be remediated on site. A lime/cement treatment was carried out, and the building was raised by 50 centimeters.
