Milestone achieved at the Neugrüen residential development in Mellingen

With the completion of the first terraced house, Switzerland’s largest sustainable housing scheme continues to take shape

Dietlikon, 25 April 2013 – Implenia, acting as total contractor for the client Credit Suisse Investment Foundation Real Estate Switzerland, is currently building Switzerland’s largest sustainable housing development in Mellingen. A healthy mix of leisure, relaxation and residential space is being created for families, commuters and seniors on three hectares of land. Once completed the Neugrüen development will provide a new home for around 400 people in 198 residential units.

The project, designed by Dietrich Schwarz Architekten AG, is setting new standards. This is the first time that sustainable criteria have been applied to a construction project on this scale. As well as complying with greenproperty Gold rules, the development will have the highest possible Minergie ratings: Minergie-P-ECO and Minergie-A-ECO. Only 22 other buildings in the whole of Switzerland have earned the latter certification. Thanks to Neugrüen this number is set to rise exponentially.

“In Mellingen Implenia is impressively utilizing its great experience of executing sustainable projects,” says Andreas Roth, the client’s product manager. Implenia is providing a complete package in Mellingen, including total contracting, building construction, civil works, wooden construction and engineering, all from a single source. The contract is worth around CHF 90 million.
