Implenia successful in bid worth CHF 180 million

Construction of 18 kilometres of new road near Bergen, including tunnel, road and bridge work

Dietlikon, 22 April 2015 – Norway's Public Roads Administration announced yesterday that Implenia, in the face of competition from four rivals, secured the lowest tender for a major infrastructure contract. Switzerland's leading construction and construction services company has thus secured an order worth a total of around CHF 180 million (NOK 1,463 million) to build a section of road between the towns of Svegatjørn and Rådal (see map attached). This section is part of the E39, a major transport link running from Bergen to Trondheim. The 18-kilometre stretch for which Implenia will be responsible includes several tunnels with a total length of approximately 7 kilometres, together with associated traffic systems and about one and a half kilometres of drainage tunnel. The project also covers several sections of road which require extensive groundworks, pedestrian and cycle paths, three bridges, five gantries and several technical buildings. Implenia has the necessary skills and capacity to realise this multifaceted and challenging infrastructure project successfully.

After the contract signing, which is scheduled for summer, construction work is due to start in September 2015. The work will take around six and a half years and should all be completed by 2021/2022. For Implenia Norge this acquisition contributes to a continuously well-filled project pipeline. The unit is going to successfully complete various major infrastructure orders this summer, including the E6 project northwest of Lillehammer and the Eidanger Tunnel southwest of Oslo. The bid emphasises Implenia's good position in the Scandinavian market. This position will benefit from the acquisition of Bilfinger Construction and gain further momentum in the future.
