Implenia secures SWICA as anchor tenant for Lokstadt

Health organisation to move into the “Elefant” building | All owner-occupied apartments sold in the “Krokodil” building

Dietlikon, 26 April 2018 – Implenia has signed a rental contract with Winterthur-based health organisation SWICA for office space in the “Elefant” building in the new city district of Lokstadt. After Canton Zurich’s surprising decision not to consider Lokstadt as a future site for the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Implenia has found a pleasing alternative. As well as securing attractive jobs in the city of Winterthur, the new anchor tenant will bring vibrant life to Lokstadt.

Attractive, modern service space is being created behind the listed frontage that looks directly onto Zürcherstrasse. Construction work on the “Elefant” office building begins in 2020 and will last till 2022. SWICA will use around 5,000 square meters, or approximately half of the new office space. By securing SWICA as its anchor tenant, Implenia has increased the appeal of the office building and positioned it ideally for the upcoming investor competition. Two architectural competitions are currently underway for the new city district: for the “Elefant” and for the “Bigboy” high-rise apartment block. Candidate projects are due to be judged in July 2018 in collaboration with the City of Winterthur.

In just a few weeks, Implenia has sold all 56 apartments in the “Krokodil” building. This great success underlines the appeal of Lokstadt. As well as the owner-occupied apartments, the building will contain social and sustainable housing and workspace. It is being built in partnership with two Winterthur housing associations and an investment fund. Construction work on “Krokodil”, the first building at Lokstadt, begins in summer 2018.

The whole Lokstadt project is being built in accordance with the SIA-Effizienzpfad Energie environmental standard. It will also be the first certified 2000-Watt site in Winterthur, setting a milestone for sustainable urban development. Implenia is building a lively new locality with attractive open spaces for all.
