Implenia is developing and building Switzerland's largest wooden construction project: sue&til

Allianz Suisse invests in Implenia development | Implenia is total contractor for CHF 135 million

Dietlikon, 3 July 2015 – On the 17,800 m2 former Sulzer site in the Neuhegi district of Winterthur, Implenia, as land owner, is developing the sustainable sue&til project in close cooperation with the city authorities. The project is the product of a design competition won by a team comprising weberbrunner architekten AG and Soppelsa Architekten GmbH. The development includes apartments, a ground floor given over to public usage and will be the largest wooden construction project ever built in Switzerland. The total amount invested in the project is CHF 162 million; Allianz Suisse Immobilien AG has purchased 260 rental apartments for CHF 135 million. Implenia will start the building work in the role of total contractor at the end of 2015. The first residents will be able to move in from spring 2018.

The project meets the most stringent sustainability criteria. It is being built in accordance with the Minergie standard and meets the objectives of the 2000 Watt Society (SIA Effizienzpfad Energie MB 2040). One special feature is the mobile construction materials recycling facility developed by Implenia. It refines the excavated material on site and uses it to make concrete.

For Implenia's CEO Anton Affentranger, sue&til is a prime example of successful project development. "In keeping with our 'One Company' approach, we are deploying the full spectrum of Implenia's services – from development, general contracting and wooden construction to engineering, civil works and building construction. And all to the highest sustainability standards," he says, "and we are proud to be able to count on a strong partner like Allianz Suisse". Martin Kaleja, CEO of Allianz Suisse Immobilien AG, agrees: "The project exactly fits our real estate philosophy of creating energy-efficient, forward-looking buildings in attractive locations as part of a sustainable investment strategy."

In the Neuhegi district of Winterthur, Switzerland's largest ever wooden construction project is being built: sue&til. Sustainability is a key feature of the project, which meets the objectives of the 2000 Watt Society. In addition, the excavated spoil is refined on site and used to make concrete.
