Implenia acquires Locher Group’s construction activities

Expansion of infrastructure refurbishment and conversion | Modernisation business as a strategic direction

Dietlikon, 21 June 2012 – Implenia is acquiring Locher Bauunternehmer AG, the construction arm of the long-established Zurich firm of Locher AG. Specialising in the fields of conversion, civil works refurbishment and hydrodynamics, the company generated revenues of over CHF 40 million in 2011. Implenia will retain the entire workforce of some 160 employees. The two companies have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. It is planned to complete the transaction at the beginning of July 2012. The Locher Group will in future concentrate on its engineering services, Locher Ingenieure AG.

The acquisition strengthens Implenia’s market presence and know-how, especially in the area of infrastructure refurbishment. It is a further step in the expansion of the important modernisation business. The two companies are a perfect match. Implenia’s existing infrastructure refurbishment services will be consolidated with the infrastructure activities of Locher Bauunternehmer AG in a new “Infra Modernisation” business unit. Marc Giger, previously CEO of the Locher Bauunternehmer AG, will head this new unit of Implenia’s Infrastructure Construction Division. The modernisation business opens up attractive new growth opportunities for Implenia in its Swiss home market.
