Successful acquisitions in Germany

Implenia wins microtunnelling contract in Hamburg and embarks on its largest building construction project in Germany so far: the Park Tower in Karlsruhe

Dietlikon, 9 August 2013 – The city of Hamburg overhauls its wastewater network. New wastewater drains are being laid to relieve the existing sewers and allow their refurbishment. The responsible authority – Hamburger Stadtentwässerung – has awarded the contract for section 2 of the “Transportsiel Isebek” sewer to a consortium in which Implenia and German company Michel Bau GmbH each have a 50 percent stake. The contract includes construction of a 1,430 meter long drainage pipe approximately 20 meters beneath the ground, as well as five shaft structures and various inspection shafts. Work on the CHF 25 million project (around EUR 20 million) starts this month and is scheduled for completion in August 2016.

Worth around CHF 42 million (around EUR 34 million), the Park Tower in Karlsruhe is the largest building construction project undertaken by Implenia in Germany. In the middle of Karlsruhe’s City Park, around 200 homes will be created to differing specifications – ranging from student accommodation to the exclusive penthouse apartment. The ground floor will include space for commercial use. Implenia is providing combined general contracting and site management services from a single source. It will hand over Park Tower ready for occupancy to the client Göbelbecker Bauträger und Beteiligungs-GmbH by the end of 2014. Implenia already has a track record with Göbelbecker Bauträger und Beteiligungs-GmbH, having recently completed another successful project with this client in Karlsruhe.
