CULTURE OF FAIRNESS AND SUSTAINABILITY
Information for cooperation
Here you will find general information on cooperation, the current purchasing conditions and our understanding of sustainability using the specific example of Implenia's purchasing organization.
Supplier Management
Suppliers are an important key to our success - their deliveries and services are crucial to our competitiveness and to the success of the company. That's why Implenia relies on professional supplier management that meets the highest quality standards and follows standardized processes.
Why supplier management?
In the medium and long term, we optimize Implenia's security of supply, cost level and process efficiency by developing our supplier portfolio. The objectives are clearly defined and mapped in the following "Supplier Management Process". The process consists of five phases that are run through continuously and recurrently:
- Supplier Qualification. Who suits us? In the first step, we include suitable suppliers in the pool of potential Implenia suppliers on the basis of defined minimum standards. In this phase, we also lay the foundations for the subsequent development of the qualified supplier.
- Supplier evaluation. Who delivers what they promise? Suppliers are evaluated according to uniform criteria and influence decisions regarding their development. All evaluation results are documented and, among other things, provide information on the qualification and further development stage of an Implenia supplier.
- Supplier classification. Where does it stand? The purpose of classification is to highlight the quality of approved Implenia suppliers or to increase the chances of new suppliers. In this process step, we classify our suppliers in the supplier pyramid, among other things. We assign the levels Excellent, Accepted, Standard and Poor.
- Supplier development. Here's how it's done! The aim of supplier development is to improve the quality of approved Implenia suppliers and increase the opportunities for new suppliers. In this process step, too, we show ourselves to be a cooperative partner with clear, comprehensible decisions and development opportunities for the supplier. This takes place in a personal, joint dialog.
- Supplier blocking. When nothing works anymore... With this process step, we can block suppliers for certain activities or phase them out completely. A supplier block can be applied for various reasons: poor quality, repeated delivery date overruns, disputes over condition agreements, repeated incorrect invoicing, violations of Swiss law and the bankruptcy of the supplier.
Implenia Purchasing introduces itself
Who is behind the scenes? The Implenia Purchasing team demonstrates how a successful purchasing organization works.
Purchasing is responsible for the entire purchasing volume of the Implenia Group, with a focus on key trades or key materials. In particular, we rely on suppliers who stand out for their integrity, continuity, sustainability, high quality standards and reliability.
Implenia spends 55-60% of the Group's output annually on purchasing materials and services. This means that our suppliers and purchasing are an important building block for the company's success. Implenia's main focus is not only on favorable purchasing terms as the basis for successful procurement. Strategic supplier management, group-wide bundling of requirements, and the development and implementation of partnership models are also central to our activities, alongside the optimization of procurement processes and innovative procurement solutions. With a great deal of expertise and experience, we provide our costing and execution departments with information for bid preparation and purchase everything from construction materials to complex subcontractor services. The key is to make the right choice in terms of risk, quality, time, cost and compliance aspects. To this end, we identify innovative national and international suppliers and continuously optimize our supplier portfolio. In addition, we maintain an intensive exchange with our existing suppliers in order to continuously improve cooperation. Purchasing at Implenia is decentralized in the regions and is thus close to our demand drivers and internal customers. In addition, it is supported centrally by specialists (lead buyers) for key trades and key materials. All the activities of our purchasing organization take place in close coordination with line management and other specialist departments such as Legal, Risk Management and Sustainability. In line with the important significance for Implenia, our demands on our suppliers are high. In addition to regional/cross-regional activity, we expect flexibility in cooperation, a clear commitment to open and fair competition, a healthy financial structure, and a corporate philosophy similar to that of Implenia. Furthermore, we value long-term partnerships based on trust and transparency as well as mutual understanding.
Sustainability in purchasing
For us, sustainability in purchasing means maintaining our business relationships over the long term.
Reliability, integrity and sustainability are important aspects in our dealings with suppliers. We strive to maintain long-term partnerships with our suppliers and treat them with respect and openness. It is important to us that our suppliers and subcontractors deliver impeccable quality and that they comply with existing laws, social standards and environmental requirements.
