Short description
The EgoKiefer Group, the number one in the Swiss window and door business, had to react as quickly as possible to the very high order volume, which exceeded its production capacity. Expanding one of the production facilities was the obvious choice.
The project
Located in the industrial area of Villeneuve, close to the freeway, the plant in the canton of Vaud seemed to be the most suitable location for this major project, which aimed to optimize operating conditions in order to remain competitive with foreign rivals. The expansion in Villeneuve also represented an investment in the future of the company in French-speaking Switzerland. The expansion of the hall, which was completed two months before the delivery of the machines, made it possible to introduce new automation assumptions and new technologies.

The nature of the ground, which consists of embankments one metre above the groundwater table, required the installation of point foundations to support the framework of the new production hall once the ground had stabilized. All of this is supplemented by a network of channels to optimize the drainage of rainwater. A metal frame forms the load-bearing structure of the new hall, which is covered by a ribbed, insulated and sealed roof. A water retention basin on the roof relieves the drainage system.
