PPE Alezane, Vufflens-La-Ville
Short description
Anchored in the heart of Vufflens-la-Ville, a quiet village in Grosde-Vaud just outside Lausanne, the "Alezane" residence - the proximity to a stud farm gave the project its name - comprises ten three-and-a-half to five-and-a-half-room apartments, which are being offered as condominiums.
The project
The building is adjacent to a large green area and is located on the site of an old farmhouse whose elegant façade has been preserved. Vufflens-la-Ville is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Sites of National Importance (ISOS). This project, which combines contemporary architecture with authenticity, is part of a heritage conservation concept developed with the support of the authorities.
Services in detail
The ashlar stones and the imposing vault, which now serves as the entrance hall, form the DNA of this building, which combines traditional and modern materials. As the construction methods of the time differed considerably from those of today, the main challenge was to stabilize the historic façade, as the building has a concrete structure. As the floor plans were limited due to the neighbourhood plan, the aim was to maximize the living space in relation to the available volume. The choice of materials was linked to the planners' desire to integrate the building as well as possible into the village environment. The modern touch was achieved with these canopies, enhanced by the metal coating and tapered at the ends to emphasize the impression of lightness.
