EMS Le Pacific, Etoy

Short description

The 9,260 m2 plot borders the Etoy industrial estate, halfway between Morges and Rolle. The construction of a care home in this highly strategic industrial area, in the middle of a very dense customer pool, is an expression of the desire to structure the nature of the local building fabric in a pragmatic and landscaped way. The master plan into which the new care home fits covers an area of around six hectares and allows for the establishment of activities as diverse as a hotel, a medically supervised facility, a museum, a center for children's activities or administrative buildings.

The project

Developed on a geometry in the shape of an "H", slightly inclined to open onto the landscape and in clear compliance with the specific program of a retirement home. The two wings of the building are connected by a central area whose light well, which forms the atrium, enables visual communication between the levels and brings together the services and residents' common areas on the first floor. The rooms in the wings are arranged around a sanitary core that opens up the entire width of the living space and orients it towards the windows, most of which are designed as bow windows and open onto a cleverly enhanced landscape. The building thus easily finds its place in the park, as its façades contribute to the lightness of the mass.

Services in detail

The care home program is embedded in a layout that staggers six buildings with courtyards or inner courtyards, with each building having an unobstructed view of the landscape, while the adoption of an underground car park limits the visible areas. The building consists of a first floor and two upper floors as well as a partial basement and offers 72 single rooms, eight rooms with kitchenette and a four-room apartment. A divisible dining and multi-purpose room, a professional kitchen and various administrative/operational rooms complete the program with 17,545m3 SIA, which also includes 37 outdoor parking spaces.
