Easy Day, Etablissement Hospitaliers du Nord Vaudois
Short description
The building meets a growing demand in the field of outpatient surgery and, as a first step, provides the necessary space to relieve the pressure on the current buildings.
The project
The building, which was erected in a corner of the site, introduces the planned extension of the hospital complex and clearly stands out from the surrounding buildings thanks to its simple lines, balanced volumetry and the original expression of its façades. The design of the façades makes it possible to combine the two required types of use while maintaining a uniform overall expression. The alternating center distances of 1.30 m and 0.70 m allow the desired flexibility in design and easy adaptation to the needs of the users. The building is completely autonomous, with the main work areas on all levels being located in the peripheral areas, while the central part of the building is preferentially used for ancillary spaces. The notoriously poor quality of the subsoil in Yverdon led to a structural concept based on a network of foundation piles that support the loads of a load-bearing system consisting mainly of reinforced concrete slabs supported on piers. The bracing is mainly formed by the vertical circulation cages.
Services in detail
The 7,781m2 plot is part of the Etablissements Hospitaliers du Nord Vaudois site in Yverdon, and the building will be integrated in the medium term into the actual extension of the Yverdon-les-Bains hospital, which is the subject of a master plan and should be completed by 2015. With its 14,951m3 SIA, spread over five floors above ground, the building offers two administrative levels of 1,000 m2 each and a hospital platform on level 3, i.e. 1,000m2 with operating theatres, sterilization, bed area, waiting room and examination room. The HVAC technical centers are located on a 535m2 attic floor. The program originally included only one administrative floor, the second was added during the course of development, which led to a modest extension of the contractual deadline by three months. A parking garage was built above ground, as the geotechnically unfavorable subsoil is not used.
