Center Socio Culturel, Ecublens

Short description

The Le Croset municipal site, which covers just over one hectare, is located in a central area of Ecublens and is adjacent to two shopping centers, several schools, the town's public services, the swimming pool and numerous apartments.

The project

The public nature of the site prompted the architects to place the daycare centers on the upper floors, which protects the children from the heavy through traffic in these public areas. The municipal daycare center offers 120 places in three age-appropriate areas: Kindergarten, baby walkers and middle children. A fourth area is reserved for a UAPE (Unité d'accueil pour écoliers), which is aimed at children in first and second kindergarten. There are 200m2 of roof terraces for each age group, where children can play in complete safety.

Services in detail

The building for public activities corresponds to its counterpart, which is located on the other side of the public square and houses assisted living. In addition to the Minergie label, its special feature is that the two daycare centers - one municipal (Les Mouflets) and one private (Domino) - are not located on the first floor, but spread over the upper floors from the 2nd to the 5th. The first floor houses the school canteen with an APEMS (Accueil pour enfants en milieu scolaire) and a youth center. On the second floor there is a library, a toy library and rooms for local clubs at the back of the building. The technical rooms and a room for the archive are located in the basement.
