Implenia wins major contract for extensive “E39” infrastructure project in Norway

Implementation of international strategy gains momentum | Successful realisation of international growth potential

Dietlikon, 22 February 2012 – The award of a wide-ranging motorway project near the city of Bergen signals the first major success for Implenia in Norway since the acquisition of Betonmast Anlegg in July 2011. The contract for the upgrade of a section of the four-lane E39 motorway on Norway’s west coast comprises – in addition to the road construction works – two 600-metre tunnels, four portals, a concrete viaduct, and three smaller bridges, as well as separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists. Decisive factors for winning the bid were the strong local knowledge and highly effective team in Norway, as well as Implenia’s many years of experience and proven expertise in complex infrastructure projects. The total building costs for the project amount to 319 million Norwegian krone (around 50 million Swiss francs). The start of construction is planned for March 2012 and the project is expected to be completed in May 2014. This contract will be an excellent reference in future bids for further infrastructure projects in the region. Implenia Norway has some 260 employees, generated revenue of around CHF 130 million in 2011 and strives for ambitious expansion plans for the coming years.
