Refurbishment of Howoge double high-rise residential building
Short description
Implenia is carrying out the energy-efficient refurbishment of the façade of a 40-year-old, prefabricated high-rise apartment building for Howoge. The work is being carried out while the building is occupied and is part of an extensive modernization project.
The project
With 296 apartments and 18 and 21 storeys respectively, the double residential tower in Berlin-Lichtenberg is one of the largest type buildings in the former GDR. The owner, HOWOGE, commissioned Implenia to optimize the energy efficiency of the façade and raise it to KfW Efficiency House 55 standard.
To this end, the façade will be upgraded with a VHF made of insulation and aluminum composite panels and BiPV modules. A total of around 850 square meters of BiPV modules will be installed. All of the green electricity produced will be fed into the grid.
Due to the building height of 64 meters, special fire protection regulations must be observed. These will be implemented by installing fire barriers in the insulation level, among other things. The entire building will be scaffolded by Implenia and equipped with external elevators for transporting materials. Implenia's façade specialists are also providing additional site equipment.
