The project
Earthquake retrofitting of the entire existing building structure - basement to 3rd floor, redisposition of the building services centre (heating and electrical).
The addition of 2 storeys will be carried out using wooden elements.
The service and office rooms will be handed over as a shell, the flats ready for occupancy.
A photovoltaic system will be installed on the entire roof of the extension.
Challenges
Conversion of a structure that has grown over decades and is partially listed.
Tight space conditions Building site installation, as over 30 smaller service and production companies are rented in the old, surrounding buildings on the site.
On the southern long side of the building, there are restrictions due to suburban railway lines and on the courtyard side due to deliveries and goods handling by the tenants, which partially affect the construction process.
