New construction of the road bridge over the Elbe as part of the new construction of the A14 Magdeburg-Schwerin motorway.
The project
The construction project comprises the new construction of the road bridge over the Elbe as part of the new construction of the A14 Magdeburg-Schwerin motorway, south of the town of Wittenberge. The new Elbe bridge runs to the west of the existing B189 road bridge. It is divided into a foreland bridge with two separate superstructures for each direction of travel and a single-span river bridge over the Elbe.
With a total length of 1,100 meters (695 m foreland bridge and 412 m river bridge), the new Elbe crossing of the A 14 near Wittenberge is the longest bridge of the entire A 14 north extension.
BBV Systems is responsible for supplying the post-tensioning system and carrying out the post-tensioning work during the construction of the bridge.
