Opening ceremony Haus Adeline Favre

On Friday 28 August, the House of Adeline Favre was officially opened together with the Canton of Zurich, the ZHAW and the SISKA, adding a unique building to the Lokstadt. Up to 2000 students and 300 employees of the Department of Health will be learning and researching at this location from mid-September onwards. January 2021 will also see the opening of the "Thetriz" outpatient health centre for the people of Winterthur.

The ZHAW department is Switzerland's largest training and research centre for healthcare professionals. It offers courses in nursing, occupational and physiotherapy, midwifery, health promotion and prevention.

The new building impresses above all with its light-flooded inner courtyard. Lecture halls and rooms were arranged in such a way that many seats and terraces were created spread over the floors. Students, lecturers and staff will be able to exchange ideas and information there in the future.

The building was named after the famous Valais midwife Adeline Favre, who had to fight for her training at the beginning of the 20th century.
