New nominee for Board of Directors

Sarah Springman proposed for election to Implenia Board of Directors | ETH Geotechnical Engineering professor will bring valuable technical construction knowledge to the Board

Dietlikon, 4 March 2013 – The Board of Directors is proposing that the Annual General Meeting of 27 March 2013 elect Sarah Springman to the Board. As Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the ETH Zurich, Sarah Springman will bring valuable technical construction expertise to the Board of Directors and help greatly with knowledge transfer.

As already announced, the Board of Directors of Implenia is also proposing that the AGM of 27 March 2013 elect Hubert Achermann, Chantal Balet Emery and Calvin Grieder to the Board.

Sarah Springman CV

Professor Sarah Springman (born 1956, British citizen) is a chartered civil engineer who studied engineering sciences at the University of Cambridge (MA, MPhil, PhD). In 1975 and then between 1979 and 1983 she worked for consulting engineers Sir Alexander Gibb and Partners in the UK, Australia and Fiji. Following her doctoral studies she was a research fellow and lecturer at the University of Cambridge between 1988 and 1996. She was appointed Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at ETH Zurich in 1997, where she specialises in soil structure interaction and the geotechnical aspects of natural hazards. Sarah Springman is a Member of SIA, a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 2013 she is being awarded an honorary doctorate by Bath University. She has also implemented high performance systems at board level for the UK Sports Council and UK Sports (1993-2001) and as a director and inaugural chair and president of the British Triathlon Federation (2007-2012).
