Implenia wins new orders worth CHF 65 million in Norway
Dietlikon, 21December 2016 – Implenia has secured two new contracts in Norway worth a total of around CHF 65 million (NOK 546 million). The new orders both involve complex infrastructure work for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA).
Implenia has been asked to build new roads, as well as pedestrian and cycle paths, near the town of Skien in Telemark province. This project is part of the first phase of a larger transport and town planning project in the Grenland area, some 130 kilometres south-west of Oslo. It includes a new 3.5 kilometre, three-lane road that runs through wooded areas and agricultural land, as well as upgrades to 1.6 kilometres of existing road. Eight concrete structures are to be built, including the 240 metre-long Klovholt bridge, the 126 metre Kirkebekken bridge, and the 80 metre Skjelbredstrand bridge. There will also be some restructuring and alteration of the existing road network.
The second new contract is for work at Bjarkøy, near the town of Harstad. The project includes building four bridges which will link the islands of Grytøy and Sandsøy. These bridges will run up to 900 metres above the sea floor and will be between 44 metres (Tjeldevik bridge) and 305 metres (Sandsøysund bridge) long. The project starts in January 2017 and will be completed in the summer of 2018. Implenia has already built the Tresfjord bridge for the same customer in the same region. Its successful completion of that project has given the Group specific expertise which it will be able to utilise on the new job.
