Implenia joins client and officials to celebrate ground-breaking ceremony at the major Pont-Rouge development

One of the biggest real estate projects in the Geneva region Implenia utilises its expertise in civil engineering, foundation engineering and total contracting

Dietlikon, 23 June 2016 – Implenia, together with the client SBB AG, prominent representatives of the cantonal and municipal authorities, and other partners involved in the project, attended the official ground-breaking ceremony today for the largest real estate project currently underway in the Geneva region. The client has commissioned Implenia, as total contractor, to build the first stage of the development (“Plot B1”), which involves a total investment of CHF 250 million.

The major project is creating a new urban centre around what will be the new Lancy – Pont-Rouge railway station, less than two kilometres from Geneva city centre. There will be offices and commercial premises, restaurants, cafes, shops, leisure facilities and public institutions, plus around 600 new residential units, with a good mix of non-profit and collective homes and owner-occupied property.

The project gives Implenia another opportunity to deploy its comprehensive skills. CEO Anton Affentranger is enthusiastic: “Pont Rouge is another great example of our ‘One Company’ approach: we are combining the expertise of our Geneva civil engineering unit with our skills in foundation engineering and our many years of experience as a total contractor on major projects.”

Plot B1 is due for completion in autumn 2018.
