Implenia celebrates ground-breaking ceremony for new Bözberg tunnel with client and government representatives
Dietlikon, 10 March 2016 – Yesterday, Implenia and SBB, various canton and community representatives – among them Stephan Attiger, member of the government of the Canton Aargau and Head of the department construction, traffic and environment and Urs Leuthard, the mayor of Schinznach-Dorf – as well as representatives of the Swiss Federal Office of Transport, celebrated the start of construction work for the new Bözberg Tunnel. The ground-breaking ceremony at the southern portal in Schinznach-Dorf marks the official commencement of construction works. As the existing Bözberg Tunnel is not suitable for a height of 4 metres, a new, 2.7 kilometre long two-lane tunnel will be built parallel to it. The old tunnel will be used as a service and rescue tunnel in future. Implenia was awarded the contract for the new building by SBB in summer 2015 (see press release). The excavation works for the tunnel will start in summer 2016. The construction work on the new tunnel is expected to take until mid-2020. More information about the construction project can be found here.
