Implenia builds Switzerland's first patient hotel
Dietlikon, 22 June 2015 – Implenia is building Switzerland's first patient hotel in the western part of the country; it is due for completion in autumn 2016. On behalf of the client, Retraites Populaires, a 3-star hotel with 114 patient rooms is being constructed on the campus of the University Hospital (CHUV) in the middle of Lausanne. The project partners – CHUV, Retraites Populaires and Reliva Patientenhotel AG – were joined at the foundation laying ceremony this lunchtime by Pierre-Yves Maillard, Head of Canton Vaud's Healthcare and Social Security Department, and Anton Affentranger, CEO of Implenia. The patient hotel will be run by Reliva Patientenhotel AG in close cooperation with CHUV on the basis of an innovative, and currently unique, utilisation concept. It will provide care services, accommodation and catering. The hotel guests are patients who require hospital care, but who are mobile enough to stay in the patient hotel. Implenia is carrying out the job as total contractor.
Implenia sees great potential in the health market: 70% of current healthcare properties were built before 1980, so there is a great need for both modernisation and brand new building. "We're very pleased that Implenia has the opportunity to carry out this beacon project, which will provide us with another very good reference," says Anton Affentranger. The project acquisition is evidence of Implenia's great health know-how, as well as of the company's varied services and strong regional presence. For complex building projects, Switzerland's leading construction and construction services company offers integrated services, from planning and coordination to actual construction.
