Ground-breaking ceremony at the Andreasturm tower in Zurich-Oerlikon
Dietlikon, 13 July 2016 – Implenia was joined by client SBB Immobilien, anchor tenant Amstein + Walthert AG as well as representatives of the authorities and the architects on Wednesday to celebrate the start of construction work on the Andreasturm tower in Zürich-Oerlikon. In approximately two years, the 80 metre high-rise designed by architects Gigon/Guyer will provide a new focus for the skyline of Zurich North. Implenia is building the project, involving investment of more than CHF 100 million, as total contractor. The Andreasturm will offer over 20,000 m2 of office, retail and restaurant space on 22 floors, plus direct access to the railway station platforms. It is being built to comply with the “DGNB Platinum” label as adapted by the Swiss Sustainable Building Council (SGNI), and meets the stringent sustainability criteria laid down by the client and the anchor tenant. By bringing together its expertise in foundation engineering, building construction and masonry, Implenia is able to provide a tailor-made, technically sophisticated overall solution from a single source. “Cut and cover” excavation will be used to ensure the client’s timetable is met. This complex method involves building the floors beneath the concrete ceiling of the second basement level at the same time as the above-ground storeys. The tower, a new landmark for this up-and-coming Zurich neighbourhood, should be ready to hand over to the client in May 2018.
