Interrupted chain of rescue

Global Safety Alert #2022-02 - During an emergency, became apparent that the rescue chain was not functioning properly. This seriously jeopardized a timely rescue. The incident shows how important it is to review emergency plans periodically and when changes occur.

In May 2022, an accident occurred at a construction site in Switzerland. The telephone line with rescue services was interrupted several times. It turned out that the mobile phone network coverage in the area concerned was insufficient.

Please discuss this incident with your teams and check if your rescue chain is intact. As another, recent incident in Germany has shown, quick and decisive action can save lives (heart attack with successful resuscitation on site and quick transport to hospital).

This call for action applies to all workplaces, from construction sites to workshops to our offices!
