TRON Research-Center

Short description

Implenia is building a research center for biopharmaceutical research in Mainz.

The project

Together with the consortium partners Gemünden and Apleona, Implenia (technical lead) was awarded the contract to build the new, approximately 10,000 m2 TRON research building on the grounds of the Mainz University Medical Center as a turnkey project. The contract was awarded after the consortium partners had already worked in partnership with the client in a pre-construction phase from the planning stage through to the building permit.

Services in detail

The new, sustainable research building with laboratory and office space is being built according to plans by Nickl & Partner, Munich/Berlin. New diagnostics and active substances for the immunotherapeutic treatment of serious diseases are to be developed at the Römerlager and in future researchers from all over the world will work together to advance outstanding cutting-edge medicine.

The Frankfurt building construction branch is planning and building the research and laboratory complex, including laboratory equipment, a two-storey underground car park and the outdoor facilities.

Following a two-stage pre-qualification phase in 2023, Implenia was initially awarded the planning contract and implemented it from January 2024 within the specified budget of a target cost agreement. The building application was submitted before the deadline. The turnkey contract was awarded in October 2024.

Sustainability

The construction site will be implemented in accordance with the DGNB specifications for sustainable construction sites. The P.ING system (Pre-Check. Sustainable Real Estate Design) developed as part of a research project with Mainz University of Applied Sciences is used as a basis and further developed; the QNG-PLUS criteria are documented and scientifically evaluated. The project achieves QNG-PLUS “very good”.
