Short description

Following the demolition of the existing Mikron factory building and subsequent remediation of pollutants, 105 rental apartments and commercial space will be created in the city of Biel. The apartments are divided into 1 1/2 to 7 1/2 room sizes and are located in two buildings with a total of six floors, which have a shared parking garage. The buildings are connected by the parking garage in the basement. The construction standard with exposed concrete meets high quality requirements.

The project

The buildings are equipped with geothermal heat pumps (geothermal probes) and photovoltaic systems, which are used jointly. The combination of these two technologies makes it possible to cover the heating requirements in a future-oriented and environmentally conscious way.

Challenges

The buildings are located close to Lake Biel, which raises the groundwater level. During the construction period, the groundwater level will be lowered by a closed dewatering system. Due to the proximity to the city center, access routes must be carefully coordinated to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
