Sweden's first repository for spent fuel.
Söderviken is located in the industrial area of Forsmark and will be the site of the above-ground facilities for the nuclear fuel storage facility. From here, a ramp with a total length of five kilometers will be built to a depth of around 470 meters.
A system of storage tunnels will be constructed at the bottom of the primary rock. The cooperation agreement includes the design, planning and construction of an access tunnel, three vertical shafts for ventilation and elevator, a central area as well as trunk and transport tunnels to the first storage areas where the spent nuclear fuel is to be deposited.
