Gamma Visions Center, Etoy
Short description
Halfway between Geneva and Lausanne, the municipality of Etoy has an important area of 112 hectares. This area, Littoral Parc, was initially intended for the establishment of stores. As it is well connected to the road network, it has now become one of the strategic sites of the canton of Vaud. The municipal and cantonal authorities want it to become a mixed-use area where stores, apartments and administrative areas are located side by side. In this context of balanced development between new residents and jobs, a new administrative and craft center has been created.
The project
A first level, located on one level, is dedicated to artisanal activities and a restaurant to the south, which opens onto a terrace and a green space. The building then rises by three levels, the volume of which is reserved for gross administrative areas that can be modulated as required. A gym, a relaxation area, conference rooms and an underground garage with 133 parking spaces complete this administrative center.
Services in detail
The building is characterized by two visually and acoustically very different façades. To the north, the façade has a traditional elongated concrete structure, which is interrupted by continuous glazing along its entire length. The main entrance to the building and the access to the parking lot are located on the north side. As this façade faces the cantonal road, the aim was to protect against noise. On the south side, however, the façade opens up towards the lake and a green area. This second façade is fully glazed to make the most of the view and the sunlight. Initially elongated, it ends in a fully glazed curve that leads to a terrace. To enjoy this natural light entering the rooms, darkening, non-opaque blinds were preferred to protect against the sun. A vertical circulation in the middle of the building provides access to the various rooms. This communal area is clad in granite.
