DB Regio AG – New construction of locomotive workshop hall
Short description
Construction of the shell of a workshop hall in solid construction
The project
Our customer, DB Regio AG, is a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG. For the new Höllentalbahn, a workshop hall was needed on the already tightly built-up southern station site in Freiburg to service the trains. Implenia built the shell with a total built-up area of around 3,100 m² and a height of 10.5 m. The workshop is located on the south side of the station. The two 120 m long maintenance pits (2.3 m x 1.85 m) with elevated tracks and the strip foundations (1.5 m x 1.35 m) show the massive reinforced concrete construction.
Services in detail
Base plate and pits: 2,400 m3 concrete, 282.5 to. structural steel Supporting structure of the hall: approx. 400 to. steel construction Facade cladding: 2,200 m2 cassette system and 4 gates, suitable for overhead lines Roof surface as trapezoidal sheet metal and partly extensively greened
Challenges
No construction site set-up area, clocking of the construction process through logistics - Partial deconstruction and extension to existing locomotive halls - Construction during train operation on adjacent tracks - Covered stream runs through the middle of the construction site
Sustainability
High occupational safety standards – no occupational accidents
