Road construction contract for around CHF 96 million awarded to joint venture lead-managed by Implenia
Dietlikon, 6 October 2014 – The stretch of the A6 motorway between Rubigen and Spiez (RUTS) was first opened for traffic more than 40 years ago. This road is going to be completely refurbished in the coming years. The KiRu joint venture lead-managed by Implenia was awarded the contract to renovate the 10-kilometre stretch of road between Rubigen and Kiesen. The project worth around CHF 96 million (Implenia's share: 25%) will be carried out between January 2015 and November 2016. In addition to the renewal of the roadway and road surface, the project also involves other work, including the overhaul of the civil engineering structures such as walls, bridges, overpasses and underpasses as well as the completion of the noise abatement measures. During peak periods around 120 employees will be working on the site. The new contract is further evidence of Implenia's strong presence in the Swiss regional business and once again proves the Group’s proven road building and civil engineering expertise. In line with this, the reasons cited for awarding the contract particularly stresses the project concept's high quality as well as the references provided.
Until 2016, Implenia as a partner in the KiRu joint venture will rehabilitate the 10-kilometre stretch of motorway between Rubigen and Kiesen.
