Preliminary half-year result 2014
Dietlikon, 25 July 2014 – On the basis of preliminary figures, Implenia is projecting operating income of just under CHF 26 million for the first half of 2014, a result that is below the previous year's figure (CHF 30 million). This decline is attributable to a significantly weaker performance in the Buildings Business Unit in the first semester. The introduction of new processes, systematic application of new risk management procedures and particularly a change in management in the key region of western Switzerland led to a revaluation of certain ongoing projects in the reporting period and thus to one-off result adjustments. In view of the measures introduced and against the background of a market outlook that remains intact, Implenia expects Buildings to achieve a marked improvement in the second half. The preliminary figures for the other Business Units present a positive picture, with half-year results consistently on a par with or surpassing the previous year's levels.
For the year as a whole, the record result attained in 2013 moves beyond reach for the Group in the first half due to the one-off charge arising from the Buildings Business Unit. Despite the expected stronger performance of the Business Unit in the second semester, it will no longer be possible to make up for the shortfall. Meanwhile, Implenia expects an operating income in excess of the CHF 100 million mark at the end of the year. Based on the solid market position and full order books, Implenia remains confident and reaffirms its medium-term EBIT target of CHF 140–150 million.
Implenia will publish detailed figures as part of its regular reporting on the first half of 2014 on Thursday, 21 August 2014.
