Major new contract for Implenia in Lyss
Dietlikon, 2 September 2014 – With the “portalyssa” project, Implenia is developing and building new housing for the Bern region just by the railway station in Lyss. Over the next two years, 142 homes will be built in this prime location. The planning legalities required to repurpose the former industrial zone for residential use were already completed as part of the 2013 revised local plan. Planning permission for the specific development was secured at the end of July 2014, leaving the way free for the restoration and sustainable conversion of the former industrial site. Demolition work will start within the next few weeks. The new development consists of connected blocks containing 96 rental apartments and four standalone buildings each providing between 11 and 13 owner-occupied apartments. All of the buildings will meet Minergie standards. The different types of 2.5 and 5.5-room apartments are designed to meet the needs of a very wide variety of users. The individual properties are arranged in an attractive, multi-level setting with carefully designed leisure spaces. Implenia, which also developed the project, is building it on behalf of the pension fund “Previs Vorsorge”. The contract is worth almost CHF 33 million and the apartments should be ready for handover to their new occupants in spring 2017. The project allows Implenia to demonstrate its skills as a group in the sustainable development of derelict inner city sites, and demonstrates the strength of the “one-company” approach to gain further momentum in the building construction market in Switzerland’s Mittelland.
