Implenia wins Norway’s “Construction Project of the Year 2016” Award

E6 Frya-Sjoa road infrastructure project takes the prize | Recognition of infrastructure expertise

Dietlikon, 30 March 2017 – On Wednesday evening, Implenia won Norway’s “Construction Project of the Year 2016” prize for the E6 Frya-Sjoa project. Representatives of “Byggeindustrien”, Norway’s biggest construction industry trade magazine, presented the award at the Building Gala in Oslo. The project beat the other two nominations thanks to the outstanding engineering skills and architecture that have allowed the E6 to be integrated perfectly into a surrounding landscape of national importance. Implenia’s Chief Project Manager Halvard Leren is excited about the award: “This comes as a major recognition of our construction and infrastructure expertise, and of the great work done by all those involved.”

Implenia and its consortium partner K.A. Aurstad completed one of two sections of the complex E6 Frya-Sjoa road infrastructure project between January 2014 and December 2016. The Implenia-Aurstad consortium was responsible for the Vinstra-Sjoa road, which accounts for about half the total project volume. As well as a 16 kilometre-long express road, with additional and overtaking lanes, this section included a 3.6 kilometre-long tunnel, five bridges, two tunnel portals and 17 over- and underpasses. Implenia also built about 12 kilometres of local roads and around 1.6 kilometres of pedestrian and cycle paths. The project, commissioned by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, "Statens vegvesen", was opened for traffic at the end of 2016.

Implenia received the “Construction Project of the Year 2016” prize for its ground-breaking E6 Frya-Sjoa infrastructure project at the Building Gala in Oslo.
