Implenia wins contract for the construction of five buildings in "Central Malley"

SBB Real Estate commissions Implenia as total contractor for the construction of five buildings | New residential and commercial quarter in the west of Lausanne | Order volume of around CHF 200 million

Glattpark (Opfikon), November 22, 2021 - The "Central Malley" project, the first stage of the redevelopment of the Malley brownfield site in the municipalities of Prilly and Renens to the west of Lausanne, aims to create a sustainable urban quarter with apartments, offices and commercial units in the middle of green spaces. The project has been designed with environmental challenges in mind and is an integral part of the Lausanne conurbation's spatial development plan, which envisages a series of ambitious architectural designs focusing on new ways of living.

Implenia was awarded the contract to construct five buildings, including two towers with 19 and 24 storeys. The buildings have a total area of 42,200 m2, of which 23,700 m2 is earmarked for office space, 14,700 m2 for around 200 apartments and 3,800 m2 for commercial units, and are to be certified with the Minergie P-Eco environmental label. The project was the subject of two separate architectural competitions in 2018, which were won by Aeby Perneger & Associés SA and Pont 12 Architectes SA. Implenia will be responsible for the challenging large-scale project with a contract value of around CHF 200 million on behalf of SBB Immobilien as total contractor.

Jens Vollmar, Head Division Buildings at Implenia, is delighted with the complex major contract: "We have pursued the project with a variety of planning and execution skills and are now looking forward to successfully realizing it together with SBB Immobilien. By contributing to the development of this new district with our expertise and our motivated team, we are shaping promising future living and working environments."
