Health & Safety Award 2024: These teams have been honoured
1st place: Safe pipe cleaning, Kabeldiagonale Berlin
As with any tunnel construction site, the Kabeldiagonale Berlin project involves cleaning a large number of pipes and ducts. However, high-pressure cleaning involves a significant safety risk due to flying material and the sheer force of the 500-bar water jet. The Kabeldiagonale Berlin project team has developed a new and safer approach to pipe cleaning that significantly reduces the risk of injury and, in addition, saves time.
2nd place: Shoe claws, Baumeister Basel
Slippery floors on construction sites are one of the most common causes of accidents and pose a significant safety risk, especially in the winter months. But even in summer, slips can occur on oily or wet formwork. For some time now, the Baumeister Basel has been using shoe claws that provide a secure footing on slippery surfaces: a simple and cost-effective solution to increase safety on construction sites.
3rd place: Safety Push, Implenia Sweden
Implenia Sweden has developed a ‘Safety Push’ to continuously improve its safety culture. Interactive exercises are used to strengthen safety awareness and achieve lasting change. In addition to all Implenia employees in Sweden, subcontractors, suppliers and customers also take part four times a year. Since the programme was introduced, safety awareness has increased significantly and the number of accidents has decreased.
