Great honour
Dietlikon, 7 March 2017 – Worth approximately NOK 1,595 billion (Implenia’s share around 60%) at the time of signing, this was the largest single road infrastructure contract ever awarded in Norway. Between January 2014 and December 2016, Implenia and consortium partner K.A. Aurstad, commissioned by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, built the new E6 Frya-Sjoa road 80 kilometres north-west of Lillehammer. Implenia was responsible for the section between Vinstra and Sjoa. As well as standard sections of roads, this complex project also involved a wide variety of technically challenging structures. These include a roughly 16 kilometre-long express road with additional and overtaking lanes, a 3.6 kilometre-long tunnel, four bridges, two tunnel portals and 17 over- and underpasses. The contract also included about 12 kilometres of local roads and around 1.6 kilometres of pavement and cycle paths. At peak times about 300 people were working on site. The E6 was opened on 17 December 2016. The jury at Norway’s largest industry magazine “Byggeindustrien” has now nominated the ground-breaking E6 Frya-Sjoa infrastructure project as “Construction Project of the Year 2016”. We will find out whether the project has beaten the other two nominated projects to the prize on 29 March 2017 at the “Building Gala” held during “Building Week 2017” in Oslo. The nomination reflects Implenia’s great infrastructure expertise and its strong presence in the Scandinavian market.
