Cornerstone laid for new Gümligenfeld commercial and recreation centre

Implenia joined with client, government representatives, developers and future tenants to celebrate the start of work on the CHF 40 million total contractor project | New urban development highlight for the community of Muri-Gümligen

Dietlikon, 15 June 2016 – Yesterday, Implenia joined the investor UBS Fund Management, Muri-Gümligen Mayor Thomas Hanke, representatives of the future tenant Cinetrade (cinemas) and JYSK (interior design business), the developers from the company Erwin Stebler and further project partners to lay the cornerstone for Gümligenfeld Centre, a new commercial and recreation centre. The project encompasses ten cinema halls, a bowling alley, two restaurants, offices and shops. The centre sets a new urban-planning accent in the south of Berne and enhances the attractiveness of the community of Muri-Gümligen. The special technical challenges include mainly the concrete work in the cinema halls due to the inclined concrete ceilings and the large spans in the rooms, which are up to twelve meters high. Implenia was involved in the project from the outset as project developer. At the end of April 2016 Implenia secured the CHF 40 million project as total contractor from UBS Fund Management (Switzerland) Ltd landed. In his speech today, Anton Affentranger emphasized the following point: “This project is a fine example of our 'One Company' corporate philosophy: Here, we are applying the comprehensive expertise of Implenia across the board, from project development through civil engineering and master builder work all the way to engineering.” The centre is scheduled to open in March 2018.
